Bernard H. (Bert) Eichold II, M.D., Dr.P.H., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Bert Eichold is the Health Officer for Mobile County and also serves as the Area Health Officer for the Public Health District of Mobile County for the State of Alabama Department of Public Health. He is responsible for safeguarding the public’s health and the environment for all of Mobile County. He has held this position since May 1990.

Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. Dr. Eichold is married and the father of three children. He is a graduate of Tulane University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree, Master of Public Health Degree, Doctor of Medicine Degree, and Doctorate of Public Health Degree.  He is an Alumnus of Leadership Mobile and Leadership Alabama.

He has academic appointments with the University of South Alabama as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Medicine where he has served as the Co-Course Director of Public Health and Epidemiology.

Dr. Eichold is a member of the Alabama Public Health Association, American Public Health Association, Mobile United, Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, The Community Foundation of South Alabama and South Alabama Workforce Development Council.  Dr. Eichold serves on the Board of the Mobile County Hospital and various other community service organizations.

Dr. Eichold is a Retired Captain of the United States Navy.
